Trainings will consist of classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction from trained CVTC personnel. Registration information can be found . (Please note: You must cancel 5 days prior to the training date, to not be charged)
Fire Door Safety
Fire Doors are important because they keep fire or smoke in certain areas and stop fire from spreading throughout the building. Fire doors are an integral part of any building’s passive fire protection system. A training, coordinated between UW-Eau Claire and the Eau Claire Fire Department can be viewed .
Fire Drills
In accordance with a state directive, and to help prepare for an actual emergency, UW-Eau Claire conducts a fire evacuation drill in each of its buildings. These drills are conducting during the first few weeks of each fall semester. To prepare for these drills, please review the following:
- Try to stay calm and promptly leave building via the nearest exit. Do not use the elevators.
- For a drill to be effective, everyone must evacuate the building when the fire alarm sounds and remain outside, at least 150 feet from the building, until emergency personnel indicate the building is clear for reentry.
- Individuals in wheelchairs or with other mobility impairments should wait in the nearest stairwell rescue assistance area. These areas are clearly marked in adjacent corridors. In a real emergency, members of the Eau Claire Fire Department will evacuate people in wheelchairs or requiring other assistance.
- As you leave, shut all doors and make sure the area is cleared.
- During classes, faculty should notify students and instruct them to proceed to the nearest building exit when the alarm sounds, meeting at a designated location.
Fire Drill Schedules can be found .
