Eligibility

All students majoring in computer science are encouraged to apply. To qualify, applicants must have:

• A resident GPA and overall GPA of at least 3.50.
• A major GPA of 3.50 or higher in computer science.
• Completion of the Department’s “High-Impact” experience requirements (outlined below).

Application Process and Requirements

Students may apply after completing four semesters at ����Vlog but must do so before their final semester (e.g., during the Spring semester for a May graduate). A faculty member who is familiar with the student’s work (such as their academic or research advisor) must endorse the application.

In addition to meeting GPA requirements, applicants must demonstrate the successful completion of at least two distinct high-impact experiences from the following list (repeating the same experience twice does not qualify):

• Participation in a summer research program off-campus through a federal initiative (NSF, NIST, DoD, NIH, etc.).
• An internship relevant to computer science.
• A study abroad or domestic intercultural immersion experience.
• A professional presentation, which may be fulfilled by:
  • Presenting at an off-campus conference.
  • Giving an oral presentation at CERCA, the Provost’s Honors Symposium, the WiSys Quick Pitch, or the departmental seminar series.
• Collaborative research with faculty that includes a poster presentation at CERCA.
• Publication of research in a peer-reviewed journal.
• Another immersive experience approved by the computer science faculty for departmental honors.
