Mission Statement

The mission of the Academic Skills Center (ASC) is to provide academic support programs that facilitate liberal education and increase student retention and graduation rates.  The ASC serves as a resource for students, faculty, staff, and administrators at UW-Eau Claire and emphasizes the process of learning, which enables diverse students to become independent, efficient, and confident learners.

This is my 4th year as a Learning Center Specialist in the Academic Skills Center where I coordinate our Supplemental Instruction program and teach Strategies for Academic Success (GEN 110).

Prof. Root is a Learning Center Specialist in the Academic Skills Center where she coordinates the Peer Tutoring program and teaches academic support classes. She is also a lecturer in the Dept. of Physics & Astronomy where she teaches the occasional introductory physics course.  She enjoys helping students navigate college life and find academic success.
