Job Information
POSITION: Tenure track position at the rank of Assistant professor in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management in the College of Business. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with expertise in Digital Marketing who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active research program. This appointment carries an initial two-year appointment beginning with the 2025/2026 academic year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstration of adequate advancement to completing terminal degree in Marketing, or related area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Evidence of successful university teaching and industry experience in the area of digital marketing.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: We are looking for an individual who has a desire to teach in a strong, growing, Marketing program. Individual would teach courses in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management based on program needs and in accordance with a specialization in digital marketing. Potential courses include digital marketing, digital marketing analytics, mobile marketing, social medial marketing, and other courses as needed.
Applicant will be expected to teach courses as assigned in the Department of Marketing & Supply Chain Management, participate in research and scholarly activities, provide professional/career advising to students as assigned, engage in service to the university and community, provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the department, University and profession and participate in department, college, and university committee work. Teaching responsibilities may involve classroom, online, and/or hybrid delivery in both the undergraduate and at the MBA level.
WHY DIGITAL MARKETING: The currently offered digital marketing certificate program at ÌÇÐÄVlog continues to grow and tracking of student placements indicates that many of our graduates are filling roles in the area of digital marketing. The digital marketing industry is a rapidly growing field. As of 2023, the global digital marketing market size reached approximately USD 366.1 billion. The market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 13.1% between 2024 and 2032. This growth is driven by the increasing digitization of industries and the shift in consumer behavior towards online platforms. Key trends in digital marketing include the use of advanced chatbots, featured snippets for SEO, shoppable social posts, and the rise of social media networks and video analytics.
Digital marketing uses websites, social media, email, and search engines to promote products and services. Unlike traditional marketing, it allows for real-time interactions and detailed targeting. In terms of job opportunities, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects an added 116,600 positions for digital marketing analysts, between 2022 and 2032.
In conclusion, the digital marketing field is growing rapidly, and there are numerous opportunities for students to learn and contribute to the industry. It's an exciting time to be studying and working in this field!
DEPARTMENT: The Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management is a vibrant and cohesive group of teachers and scholars, dedicated to excellence in teaching and remaining current in their fields through scholarly activity. The department offers two majors: Marketing and Operations/Supply Chain Management. Emphases within the Marketing major include General Marketing, Marketing Analytics, and Sales. The department serves over 500 undergraduate majors, and helps support the UW System Consortium online MBA program. The department is housed in UW - Eau Claire's AACSB accredited College of Business.
